Best Way To Smoke Cannabis

When it comes to smoking weed, what’s the best way to do it? The answer depends on how you define “best”. Are you looking for a method that’s…

  • Cost-effective?
  • Most potent?
  • Or the healthiest?

So, which cannabis consumption method is best for you? Let’s get into it:

Popular Smoking Devices

You’ve heard of terms like bongs, pipes, and dab rigs, but what are the differences between them? Here’s a quick rundown:

  • Bong. Bongs feature a bowl to hold the cannabis, a chamber of water, and a pipe that you inhale through. Alternatively, you can use a gravity bong (also known as a water bong). Gravity bongs push a large volume of cannabis smoke into your lungs at once. If you have a low tolerance for cannabis, this is not the method for you; given its potent concentration, it’s better suited for those with a higher tolerance.
  • Glass pipe. One of the most popular pipes is a one-hitter; this device looks a lot like a cigarette, except it’s made of glass, ceramic, or metal. It features a very small bowl used to pack cannabis. When you’re putting cannabis in a pipe, try to pack a small bowl; this leaves room for airflow as you inhale.
  • Dab rig. Using a dab rig is not technically smoking cannabis. With a butane torch, you heat the concentrate to roughly 149-232° Celsius (300-450° Fahrenheit). At this temperature, the rig produces vapour rather than smoke. Given the potency of cannabis concentrates (or butane hash oil), this method is best for an experienced smoker.

Of these options, which will be your preferred way to smoke weed? Again, that depends on the smoking experience that you’re looking for.

If you want to save money, bongs typically produce the strongest effects with the least amount of cannabis. However, the bong itself might be pricey. Pipes are more portable and discreet; one-hitters are great when you want a quick hit. But if you’re just looking for the most potent experience, consider a dab rig.

Smoking Joints & Blunts

Joints have been around longer than most other smoking methods. Once you get the hang of rolling them, they’re a great way to take cannabis on the go.

Blunts are a lot like joints, except they’re bigger and packed with more cannabis. They burn slower than a typical joint. Given their size, we don’t recommend that you smoke an entire blunt to yourself—they’re best shared with a few close friends.

Inhalation Methods

You might’ve heard that holding in the smoke will get you higher. But this isn’t necessarily true. In reality, 90% of the CBD and THC content is absorbed by your lungs within a few seconds. Holding in the smoke any longer than this won’t make a difference.

On top of that, it can be more harmful to hold in the smoke. You’ve probably experienced this after you smoke pot and hold it in for too long, causing you to cough. We recommend holding the smoke in for no longer than 3 seconds.

Use a Clean Bong

There’s no denying that one of the best ways to smoke weed is with a clean smoking device. When’s the last time you cleaned your bong? If you can’t recall, that’s a sure sign your bong is overdue for a clean.

When you smoke marijuana, using a clean smoking appliance is better for your lung health. You’ll notice that, as you inhale, the hits are less harsh (and they taste better, too).

On that topic, here’s something else to consider: try not to roll your joints on a dirty table. Otherwise, you might end up with more than cannabis inside of your rolling papers.

What’s the Verdict on Vaping?

Vaping rose to popularity a few years back as a healthier alternative to cigarettes, and it looks like this trend is here to stay.

The jury is still out on whether vapour is healthier than weed smoke. Vape pens are still so new, and more research is needed. If you’re looking for a different way to smoke weed, you might give vaping a try.
